Hi Again Friends
Unbelievable how quickly the bottles are piling up. The container is at capacity and there is no way we can wait much longer to have another sorting session. The bottles/cans that we sorted last Wednesday will be picked up tomorrow (Sunday) at 10am.
The next sorting day will be:

Wednesday August 14th
9:00 AM.

Hope to see you there. We will only sort until the brown container holding the sorted bottles is full. With the number of volunteers we had last week that only took about 2 1/2 hours.

Thank you to all of the SGLVFD volunteers. The success of Community Day is because of you. We gave away 360 hot dogs and 5 pails of ice cream.
The total of the raffle sales was over $1,000.00 and pies sales over $500.00. There was $1,898.00 in the firefighters boot and two other cash boxes amounted to over $200.00.
Before expenses are paid it appears that over $3,000.00 was collected.
A wonderful donation will once again be sent to the BC Firefighters Burn Fund.
If you have any feedback in regards to how we can improve on community day, please let me know. I believe we did improve on the ice cream consistency…..thanks to a power outage.
Thanks again.

Cold Weather Fire Practice

We do get out to practice in cold weather. Winter presents additional challenges when working with water. We have a great team that work well together and show professionalism in all aspects of training!

Making ice!
Brrrrrrr!
This truck that we purchased quite a few years ago from Kamloops Fire Rescue is now Pumper 2.

The New Pumper Apparatus

As I haven’t posted any updates for a long time, I thought I would update some of our purchases within the last year.

Training on our new apparatus that is now Pumper 1. A 2005 Sparton Superior 4 wheel drive. We took delivery on May 1, 2018 and it was put into service on July 14, 2018.
