PLEASE BE ADVISED TIME CHANGE FOR THE GARAGE SALE MAY 18TH TO 9:30 AM

We are pleased to have Shelly Harnden, RFT Wildfire Technician, 100 Mile Fire Zone, Cariboo Fire Centre come and put on her FireSmart presentation. She will start at 10:00 am and it is approximately 1 1/2 Hours. Very interesting and I recommend anyone who wants to firesmart their property to attend. SGLVFD will also have a booth on hand to assist property owners.

If you have anything to donate to the fire hall please contact Roger at 250-456-7755 to arrange pickup.

South Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department

Wildfires are a top hazard in BC. If one threatens your home, you may need to leave quickly – that’s when your grab-and-go bags will be invaluable.

Build one for each member of your household that includes both basic and personalised items. Find a complete list of what to pack at bit.ly/2UTy9qz

You can also help prevent wildfires by:

• Checking for bans and restrictions
• Never leaving a campfire unattended
• Ensuring your campfire is completely out and ashes cool to the touch before you leave an area

Annual Garage and Bake Sale

The SGLVFD Auxiliary members made more than 700 pies for the annual Garage and Pie Sale at Fred Potter Memorial Fire Hall (546 Green Lake South Rd.) on May 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be apple, blueberry, cherry, apple blueberry and strawberry rhubarb pies available for $8 each.

Auxiliary members worked hard to bake pies twice a week for 10 weeks.

There will be a lot of treasures at the garage sale again this year, along with a table of raffle baskets. Tickets for the baskets will be three for $5

Hotdogs, pop, chips and water will be available for purchase.

Anyone having donations for the Garage Sale and needing a donations pickup can call Roger Graham at 250-456-7755.

Newest Addition to the Fleet

Thanks to a lot of hard work from our volunteers, we got the snow plow in-service by Dec 21.  This will allow us to react quickly if we get a big snowfall, clearing the lot. In the past we have relied on volunteers with small machines or occasionally Interior Roads would plow the lot for us.

With Dry Hydrants in our future at access 5 and 10, we will also be able to keep them plowed in the event we need water.

I would personally like to thank the executive for thinking of the future and all our dedicated volunteers for making us ready for whatever winter brings us before the Christmas Holidays.

With this level of commitment by all our volunteers, as our mission statement states, ‘We are ensuring a Safe Community”

Peter McKie

Fire Chief

Winter is here!

All apparatus chained up and ready before the cold weather hits us.
Thanks to all who helped make this happen, ensuring we are ready if called. Thanks to Aaron Bregg, Bob Bell, Steve Gehl, Roger Graham, Art Groves, Jim Smith, John Sullivan and James Walter.
