Just letting everyone know that this Friday November 15th the SGL Fire Department will be having a night practice in preparation for the winter months. We will begin at 6:00 pm and will be in the area of Southcrest Road. There will be alot of flashing lights and scene lighting. We will be shuttling water from Access 2 back to Southcrest Road . This is only a practice. Thank you Roger Graham Fire Chief

In the last week there have been 2 instances that campfires have been abandoned without being put out. It is vitally important to put campfires out before leaving the area.Please be responsible when having campfires as it is extremely dry and it wouldn’t take much to have a bad fire season.

Our firefighters were out a couple of weeks ago working on FireSmart mitigation (Before the prohibition). Remember, effective as of 12 p.m. (noon) Pacific Daylight Time on Thursday, March 28, Category 2 and 3 open fires will be prohibited across the entire Cariboo Fire Centre. This prohibition includes the Cariboo Chilcotin Forest District, the 100 Mile House Forest District and the Quesnel Forest District. The following activities, equipment, materials and substances will also be prohibited:-Fireworks-Sky lanternsThis prohibition does not ban campfires that are half-metre high by half-metre wide or smaller, and does not apply to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes.Stay safe everyone!

Annual Garage and Bake Sale

The SGLVFD Auxiliary members made more than 700 pies for the annual Garage and Pie Sale at Fred Potter Memorial Fire Hall (546 Green Lake South Rd.) on May 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be apple, blueberry, cherry, apple blueberry and strawberry rhubarb pies available for $8 each.

Auxiliary members worked hard to bake pies twice a week for 10 weeks.

There will be a lot of treasures at the garage sale again this year, along with a table of raffle baskets. Tickets for the baskets will be three for $5

Hotdogs, pop, chips and water will be available for purchase.

Anyone having donations for the Garage Sale and needing a donations pickup can call Roger Graham at 250-456-7755.
