Thank you to everyone that supported the Firesmart cleanup at Access 8 in the Bravo neighborhood yesterday. We hauled 6 trailer loads of debris away to the Eco Depot. Also we would like to thank Danny Funk from the TNRD for helping out and supplying the food as well as BBQing the burgers and hotdogs. It was a great success. Your Firesmart Team

Wildfire Firefighter Site

Here is a great site that you can leave a message for BC Forestry Firefighters.

These firefighters have been sent to other areas in Canada as well as world wide to fight fires!

It’s always nice to here from people who are affected by the work that these firefighters do!

Burning Restriction Reminder

As the weather stays hot and dry we have to be extra careful with our campfires.

This is just a reminder that there are burning restrictions in the Cariboo.

According to bcwildifire.ca a campfire is:

“An open fire that burns piled material no larger than 0.5 m in height and 0.5 m in width and is used by any person for recreational purpose, or by a first nation for a ceremonial purpose.”

For more information you can download the campfire pdf brochure.

AGM This Weekend

It’s that time again for our Annual General Meeting. It will be held upstairs at the Fred Potter Memorial Hall this coming Saturday at 10:00 am.

Come check out all of the work that our volunteers and contractors have been doing with the new building.

Your fire hall volunteers spend a lot of hours making your community a safer place to live and vacation. Firefighters have regular fire practices, training and working on the prescription. The Ladies Auxiliary have regularly planned fund raisers and meetings. The Board of Directors spend a lot of time planning and organizing for the future.

See you Saturday!

The New Building

As the 1 year anniversary of the new building approaches, it is in the final phase of completion.

For the past month, Randall Scott from Regal Koncrete and his wife and crew have been busy working on the base  to get ready for concrete. The amount of back breaking work that needed to be done was tremendous! They did a great job!

Jim Kolisnyk and his crew from K2 Concrete did the placing and finishing of the interior floors and exterior aprons.

After some curing time, we will be spraying a sealer on all of the floors and aprons to protect the surface. We should be parking the trucks in the new building in soon!
